It is an outright sin and utter denial of all that is intrinsic in the American constitution to deny that what is going on in Palestine is not Ethnic Cleansing. If we cannot recognize this than we do not deserve the liberties we currently hold so dear. At the least, we should stop funding the Israeli army.

To take the side of the oppressor in this matter is entirely and completely un-American by any standard and it should stop by any means. I will support any and all efforts to increase the prosperity of the Palestinian peoples. I do not support wonton violence against innocents, but wonton violence is being spread against all Palestinians and people in desperate times will succumb to desperate measures to secure the ends of survival. While this is entirely unfortunate, it is the reality the Israelis have created for themselves, and to expect less from their oppressed is ignorance just as their actions.

If Israel wants peace, they must make it happen, it is in their hands. If they want suicide bombers to stop then they must stop their aggression immediately. They must end the occupation and return the Gaza strip and the West Bank (at least) to the Palestinian people, tear down their walls and remove the checkpoints.

History of Palestine

Zionism began as a national liberation movement that collided with the existing Palestinian National Liberation movement. This occurred as the Zionists were looking for a new nation-state and decided upon the holy land of Palestine. This was meant with much resistance from not only the Palestinians that lived in the land already, but also the Hebrews (Jews) who for the most part had coexisted relatively peacefully until the Zionists arrived. Christian and Muslim Arabs alike became victims of the Zionist expansion in Palestine. The occupation of Palestine is the longest running currently active occupation in the world. Due to the strategic position of Isreal, the US continues to veto any UN security council resolutions to support the Palestinians. Isreal recieves more financial aid from the US than the rest of the world combined. This means that the US is directly responsible for the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Palestine was thought of and expressed as a 'Land without a people for a people without a land' and the history of the Zionist movement continues to be misrepresented in the Israeli educational system, demonizing the Palestinians and justifying the occupation through religion as the divine right given to them by god. Before the Zionists arrived in Palestine, the land was identified on maps as 'Palestine', now it is identified as 'Israel' and historic 'Palestine' no longer appears on maps.
