What is wrong with the world and

why am I a part of the problem ?

Here is what you might think about your life in general, (if you are already environmentally conscious). You are honest, you go to work, you recycle your garbage, you try to buy things that are environmentally friendly. You realize there is a serious shortage of our worlds natural resources. You feel that you are doing all you can, and that the problem is an unfortunate circumstance of the worlds increasing population and beyond anything more you can do at this point.

You haven't even touched the surface. Humans survived for thousands of years without massive governments and overbearing mining of resources. How? Simplicity. People grew what they needed. We still do this today, but the process has been taken away from the individual and given to the governments. Now, you depend on your government and your society to provide you with the resources you need. What is wrong with that? Everything.

Governments do not have the capacity or desire to introduce self-sufficient methods to the people. If people could take care of themselves, than the only purpose for the government would be to protect us from violence and war. However, our societies thrive on violence and war as corporations and governments take advantage of these situations. The only way out is through yourself.

Only you as an individual (with the "freedom" you are currently given by the Constitution) have the capacity to heal this world, to preserve our planet for our children and their children. I believe that technology could enable us to live in harmony with the earth and each other, however, even the wonderful effects of well intended technologies will not be seen by the average citizen. It is not in the interest of the wealthy few (who control the corporations that produce the technologies) to preserve the earth for the unwealthy and "insignificant" masses. Therefore, it will not happen (or it would have already). The only way to heal this earth and attain true freedom in it's most honest and applicable form is to live your life self-sufficiently.

Remember, the world is only so big (It's actually too small at this point), so no matter how you slice it, (minus self-sufficiency), we cannot survive, and the earth will not survive us. In fact, the earth has been severely losing the battle of life to humans for several years now. This is how people see the situation in general; the lifestyle of Americans has grown to include the ironic disassociation from the effects of our dying earth. "Ohh, the ocean's resources are dwindling and there is not enough fish anymore? Well, I live in America and those are not issues that will effect me." Meanwhile, our government is slowly sucking the life out of the rest of the world. I like to call it the Power Disadvantage. People believe that our government will somehow overcome this annoying problem of lack of resources and our crumbling environment. They think the problem will never reach our shores (too late, 9/11). We have the Power Disadvantage, too much confidence to consider any problem too big. The government has people right where they want them, faithful and full of worthless hope. The people are too worried about their own little worlds that most wouldn't understand or consider a real path to freedom, a real path to continual life, the continual life of human civilization.

Think about this, people are saving money for their children to go to college right now, and some of these children may still be toddlers. That is an honest and responsible choice if you haven't thought out the reality of our situation; College may be pointless by the time your child is ready to go. There will be no economy for that person to work in. All that may be is pollution and war, death and chaos (not too much different from our current situation). Yet, if you took that money and built a self-sufficient environment, you are guaranteeing a lot more for that child. You are guaranteeing an honest and healthy life for as long as that person will want to stay in that environment.  There is nothing wrong with simplicity. There is nothing wrong with not wanting the most expensive things or the most luxurious lifestyle. There is something wrong with wanting something that will deface the future of our society and threaten our existence.

If you want freedom, self-sufficiency is the answer, If you want chaos, don't be actively concerned about our environment or the course of our governments actions. Continue to think your EnergyStar appliances are healing the world and your government is doing all it can to secure our future. Our government, hence our controlling society,  is only interested in securing the wealth of the few who control it. Freedom is so much more than living in America, so much more than being able to believe or afford what you want.

Freedom is the direct and consequential effect of truth when it is truly honored. Hence "The truth will set you free".

America is far from free, we depend on so many corrupted and destructive elements to keep the wheels of our country rolling. Don't expect the government to propose a real solution to this problem, IT WONT HAPPEN. The job is up to YOU. Only YOU can heal this earth. As you are, I'm sure, willing to admit, you are but one person, what could you possibly do that will make up for the rest of the populations effect? That is your answer. You can't make up for the rest of the population, but you can for yourself, and the more people that see this, the more that will follow. Only YOU can make the difference. It's your conscience, how many women, children and soldiers have died for your "freedom" so far. Did they die and kill so we could use that freedom to destroy the rest of the world?; Or so we could wise up and preserve true freedom for the future of our children, so we won't need to send them to kill or be killed?

Self-Sufficiency
